Rubber switch consits of silicone rubber keypad and membrane switch. For many applications which need soft touch feeling and then the customer will consider to use silicone rubber keypad as the top interface layer. By the way, silicone rubber is also a kind of nature light guide raw materials. So for some keypads need backlighting also consider to use rubber keypad as the top layer. Use translucent silicone raw materials, after molded, then make spraying, printing and laser etching backlighting icons.
Rubber keypads can be molded to different shapes with different base thickness and buttons height. The customer can select the silicone's hardness as per your needs. Most of time the common selected hardness of the silicone is 50-65°. Of course if you want your keypad be more harder, then you can select 70°, 75° or even 80° silicone raw material. Inverse you can select 45°, 40° or even 30° soft silicone raw material. The button's color can be sprayed and printed, and also use second-molding technolgy to mold the color keys.
For some special applications, the customers maybe even consider to add PC covers on rubber keys or make epoxy dispensing on key's surface to make the product be more reliable and withstand more harsh environment. Rubber keypad is also a very good solution for waterpproof solution. When we design a rubber switch, if have the waterproof needs, then can make it be wrapping border design. It means to design a wrapping border for the rubber keypad and make the membrane switch packs be embedded in.
Further more, the silicone rubber itself also has anti-oil, anti-scratch, eat-resistant etc. features, which is widely ued in industrial control, defence, aerospace, marine etc industries.
